Wedding Gift Lists
Follow our simple guide to drawing up a wedding list...
Here at Love Weddings we get regular emails from brides and grooms wondering if drawing up a wedding list will offend any of their intended guests.
We all know that wedding gifts are not a requirement of attending a wedding, but tradition dictates that it is the preferred way of helping a married couple celebrate their new life as husband and wife, and the majority of guests choose to give gifts or cash. We are overwhelmingly in favour of gift lists, but they must be approached with caution! From a guests piont of view, it is a real convenience to be able to choose an item which you know the couple will actually need and enjoy, rather than parting with your hard earned cash for something which may be relegated to a cupboard for years to come until it reaches the inevitable car boot sale.
Shopping online from a wedding gift list now makes life even easier, with delivery normally taken care of too.
However some guests will still wish to select something which is of their own choice, and their may be many reasons for this. This gesture should be welcomed and appreciated
Choosing your gift list
There are dozens of online and high street retailers who will offer you a wedding gift list facility. This allows you to choose the items which are of value to you, and the list is then published for all your guests. You will see below a number of our preferred gift list suppliers - please visit them to get an idea of the wide range of items available to you.
When drawing up your wedding lists, there are some very important factors to consider. Firstly, ensure you cover every price range possible. Do not make assumptions about what you think someone is likely to be able, or want to, spend. This could create an embarrassing situation where guests are offended when looking at your guest list to find the only items left are well over their budget.
Start by choosing items from the lower end of the price bracket and ensure you choose plenty of those options. This again allows people to perhaps buy two or three things off the list and still remain within their spending limit. Depending on the circumstances of your guests, you might find that mid priced items of around £80 - £100 are popular, and inevitably, some close family members might want to club together to buy a larger item, so allow a few higher end choices.
